The Shred Station Bowling Tournament: Ten-pin for Trees

At Shred Station, the environment is one of our top priorities. As a CarbonNeutral® and eco-friendly business, we also tend to attract employees that are passionate about the environment, too. That’s just how we roll.

This year, our talented team decided to take on their biggest fundraising challenge to date. Throughout 2022, our staff are aiming to raise enough funds to plant 10,000 trees by the end of the year. They will be doing this by participating in many challenges spanning our whole UK workforce.

Our last two challenges, the Shred Station Bake Off and an Easter Egg raffle raised enough money to plant a total of 1,391 new trees in Kenya and Madagascar. This challenge put the fun into fundraising and our team took part in a ten-pin bowling tournament at a local independent bowling house. We were hoping that this challenge would push us over the 1,500 mark. We would have been bowled over to achieve that goal.

Our bowlers for this challenge are all based at our Norwich shredding depot.

In with a chance of winning the Shred Station Bowling Champion title was:

  • Simon, Managing Director
  • Ross, Finance Director

To enter the bowling competition, each bowler put a cash donation into a pot. The winning bowler was due 50% of the pot’s total and the remaining 50% was to go directly into tree planting projects across the globe.

The winner was Simon Franklin, Shred Station’s Managing Director, who generously donated his winnings to the 10,000 Tree Fund. This meant we raised enough money to plant an enormous 1,204 trees.
