Off-site shredding services are:
- Cost effective

You don’t need to remove paper clips, staples, plastic wallets, or folders. Our depot shredders make light work of these items. - Lightning fast
Each of our depot shredders can shred 100+ tonnes of paper every day. Imagine how long this would take with a small office shredder!
- Environmentally friendly
We operate with a Zero to Landfill policy. We recycle 100% of paper at UK mills, and we are carbon-neutral certified.
Secure and compliant off-site shredding
Shred Station’s fully accredited off-site shredding service is secure, fast, and cost-effective. All services are performed in line with EN 15713 security shredding standards and comply with the principles of the GDPR Article 5 surrounding the processing and erasure of personal data. We provide a full audit trail by providing a Waste Transfer Note and Certificate of Destruction after every service, demonstrating your chain of custody.
In transit, we keep materials secure by:
- Securing all materials collected into locked bins on board
- Using specialist off-site vehicles with minimal branding
- Having 360 four-camera CCTV systems installed in every truck
- Using GPS and telematics tracking
Our premises are also fully secure, with 24hr CCTV, robust perimeter security, minimal signage, and strict access controls allowing authorised personnel only.
For our regular commercial customers, off-site shredding services can operate almost entirely in the background. We’ll turn up as per our pre-agreed schedule, and you’ll receive your waste transfer and proof of destruction documents via email. We can also set you up on our online portal to make your historic documentation easy to find when you have audits. This simplifies your business processes for facilities management surrounding confidential waste, taking the stress of confidential waste management away from your teams.
For domestic off-site shredding customers or one-off commercial customers, off-site shredding is one of the most cost-effective ways to securely destroy your confidential materials. From home document clearouts to office archive purges, we can assist.
“Easy booking process for a one-off shredding collection for our archive records. Efficient collection, with all paper transferred into locked bins for the off-site shredding service. Excellent value for money for a certified secure waste disposal. Will definitely use Shred Station for all our secure shredding requirements.”
– Label printing service provider, Bury Saint Edmunds.
Off-site vs mobile paper shredding
Of the two options, off-site paper shredding offers the best value for money. If you have a very large volume to destroy (e.g. an articulated lorry’s worth), off-site shredding is also the most efficient choice.
However, mobile shredding services are a great alternative to our off-site services and are ideal for customers who want to witness the shredding take place. With mobile options, we collect your confidential material and shred it on board our specialist shredding vehicle. This rapid service means your documents are destroyed immediately, and you’ll receive your Waste Transfer Note and Certificate of Destruction straight away. Our vehicle shredders can easily destroy around 160 boxes of paper per hour, so we can facilitate destruction services for requirements of any size, but for extra-large requirements, we may have to arrange multiple visits or send multiple vehicles.
Both services are totally secure and are available on a one-off or regular basis.
How our off-site shredding service works
At Shred Station, our secure off-site shredding service ensures your confidential waste disposal is fully compliant and your organisation has fulfilled all of its obligations for responsible data destruction in line with GDPR.
- Book a collection. Book a collection via our sales team. We’ll schedule a date to collect your documents, branded goods, IT equipment, hard drives, electronic media, and almost anything else you need destroyed. For regular customers, lockable bins or bags will be delivered before your first collection.
- Your service is scheduled. On the morning of your service, you’ll receive a live service tracking link to monitor our driver’s progress throughout the day.
- Collection. Our uniformed and BS7858 security-vetted operatives will arrive and start transferring your materials into our secure, CCTV-monitored and GPS-tracked vehicle. You’ll then be issued a Waste Transfer Note via email.
- Shredding at our secure facility. On arrival at our secure destruction facility, your paperwork will be commingled and shredded. Non-paper materials such as hard drives will be shredded separately to ensure maximum recyclability.
- Certificate of destruction supplied. We log the completion of destruction and issue a Certificate of Destruction via email within 72 hours of collection.
- Recycling. Shredded paper is baled at our depots and is then sent to UK paper mills for recycling. We recycle all non-paper materials possible. Nothing we shred will ever go to landfill.

Chain of custody – what does it mean and why is it crucial for businesses?
A chain of custody is the paper trail proving all stages of a document’s lifespan. Organisations should keep a paper trail for every document that contains sensitive information. While it can be an onerous process, it does help organisations prove their GDPR compliance.
Is it okay to shred paper with staples, plastic wallets, and paperclips?
Many people ask us whether they can shred paper with staples, plastic wallets, paper clips and folders still in place. Often, these people have been manually removing every staple, paper clip, and plastic wallet so they can use a small home or office shredder.
Can you put shredded paper in the recycling?
Some recyclers don’t accept shredded paper as it’s hard to separate at mixed recycling facilities. With Shred Station, we use dedicated UK paper mills after shredding to ensure 100% of your documents are recycled.

Why not burn paper instead of shredding?
While burning does ensure destruction, there is no chain of custody for your paperwork. By this, we mean proof of compliance in how you’ve handled your sensitive documents. This is especially important for anyone destroying commercial information.
