Carbon Certificates for Regular Customers

Here at Shred Station, we pride ourselves on being an environmentally friendly company. In fact, our environmental impacts are something we’ve been working on since our formation in 2008. Now, for many businesses, taking measures to reduce carbon outputs isn’t just an option. It’s essential.

When you shred with Shred Station, your business could be making real reductions in carbon outputs with minimal effort. While this might sound too good to be true, the reasons are very simple. Recycling office paperwork is far more environmentally friendly than creating paper from scratch. We proudly recycle 100% of the paper we shred on your behalf at UK mills, and this process doesn’t only save trees from being cut down. It saves an enormous amount of water, energy and carbon too. Plus, as mentioned, Shred Station is CarbonNeutral® certified. That means the calls you make to our office, the journeys our trucks make to and from your site, and the shredding and baling process are all certified carbon neutral.

So, how does this affect you?

If your organisation is looking for a tangible way to demonstrate your eco-efforts, we can help. Our regular shredding customers can request a carbon certificate each year. This certificate includes the number of trees saved through shredding and recycling, how much kWh energy saved, how much water saved and how much CO2 saved. These figures are calculated based on the volume of paper shredded, and the resources saved from recycling this paper rather than manufacturing virgin paper. The video at the bottom of this page explains further.

The benefits of recycling paper

Recycling paper can reduce your company’s carbon footprint, as can using recycled paper in your offices. Here are some facts about paper that you may find surprising!

  • It can take up to 10 litres of water to produce just one single sheet of virgin A4 paper. Recycled paper uses up to 53% less water.
  • In the UK, we use around 12.5 million tonnes of paper each year. Measured in trees, that’s an area of forest around the same size as Wales!
  • By recycling just one tonne of paper, we can save around 17 trees from deforestation.
  • Recycling paper creates 73% less air pollution than making new paper from raw materials.

So, just by shredding and recycling your paper with us, you could be making a difference.

Each month our paper recycling saves 30,838 trees, 12,698,000 gallons of water, 689,320 gallons of oil, 7,256,000 kilowatts of energy and 5,442 cubic yards of landfill space.
