One-Off Shredding

Shred Station provides ad-hoc and one-off shredding services to those who do not require regular collections. This service is available to commercial and home shredding customers. We can shred your materials outside your premises for you to witness with our on-site service, or take them to our secure facilities for destruction with our off-site service.

Why use our one-off shredding services?

You may be moving offices and clearing out documentation you no longer need. Perhaps you purge and destroy archived documents at the end of each year. Or, maybe you are moving house and realise the volume of confidential paperwork you have collected over the years is too much to sort out alone. A one-off shredding service could save you time and money, and gives you the reassurance of total destruction – way beyond the capabilities of a small office shredder.

Saves time
Small office shredders can only shred a few pages per minute and have lengthy cool-down times. Our industrial shredders can destroy over 160 boxes of paper per hour, and you don’t need to remove staples, paperclips, plastic wallets, or even lever-arch folders.

Saves money
Our one-off destruction costs are highly competitive, and we can destroy your materials in minutes. Small cross-cut office shredders, in contrast, can be expensive to buy, even more expensive to maintain, and very easy to jam or break.

Improves security
Unlike using a small office shredder, with Shred Station, your materials are collected and destroyed under constant CCTV in line with EN 15713 security standards. Documents are handled solely by security-vetted personnel and are mixed with tonnes of other documents for extra security.

Reduces safety risk
Shredding in-house or at home comes with safety risks. As well as being extremely sharp, once used, office shredders will start to become full of fine paper dust. This can be highly flammable and potentially even dangerous to inhale.

Suitable for businesses and individuals, our one-off confidential waste disposal service is a simple, secure, and cost-effective way to dispose of confidential documents that have been building up. One-off shredding services are ideal for:

  • Small businesses that do not produce much paperwork
  • Companies requiring one-off services for non-paper items, like uniforms
  • Businesses that have a one-off requirement for larger volumes, e.g. an office move
  • Domestic individuals seeking a GDPR compliant provider to help declutter their confidential waste at home or the homes of loved ones
  • Sole traders and tradespeople with old, unneeded business paperwork
  • Remote workers who need to compliantly dispose of company documents
  • Decluttering service providers who outsource confidential waste disposal or recommend confidential waste disposal to their customers.

Eco-friendly one-off document shredding

With our one-off paper shredding service for confidential documents, you can enhance your information security. Using a high-security destruction process like ours helps to protect your personal or commercial information – but that’s not all!

At Shred Station, we recycle 100% of the paperwork we shred at UK mills and operate with a strict Zero to Landfill policy. As a lifetime CarbonNeutral®  certified company, you also have the reassurance that all carbon emissions associated with your shredding services will be neutralised in line with the requirements of The CarbonNeutral Protocol.

By operating with a Zero to Landfill policy and recycling 100% of the paper we shred, we save a huge number of trees from deforestation each year.

Platinum trusted service provider

“Very efficient service from initial enquiry to being called back with a date for a home service. I was kept updated via email as to the potential time of arrival. The two operatives were friendly and informative and operated the mobile shredder at my location. I had a lot of historical confidential waste to get rid of, which would have taken me an age to shred, so was very happy to have this service to do the hard work for me at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this service to others.”

One-off domestic shredding customer in Norwich.

Frequently asked questions

If your query hasn’t been answered on this page, please feel free to head over to our FAQs page for more information.

  • Do you provide proof of destruction?

Yes. You will receive a Certificate of Destruction via email. With on-site services, this is provided instantly. With off-site services, it may take a few days for us to process the certificate, but it will be sent within 72 hours guaranteed.

  • Can I place data tapes, hard drives, X-rays, CDs or photographs in with my paper?

No, however, we can shred these items separately. Please contact our sales team for a quotation and instructions on preparing your materials for collection.

  • Can I destroy multiple materials in one service?

Yes, you can. We can collect everything you need to destroy. However, materials must be kept separately from each other – e.g. hard drives kept separately from paperwork. This ensures we can recycle as much as possible after shredding takes place. Our sales team will talk you through the process. We typically recommend off-site destruction for multiple materials to achieve the best value for money.

  • Do we have to use Shred Station bins or bags, or can we use our own?

No, you don’t have to use our bins or bags. Many of our customers use bin liners or archive boxes. As long as they are carryable by one operative, we can take them.

We will collect bags, boxes, or pallets of material – as long as they are sealed or lidded to prevent your items from blowing away or falling out. Your containers must also not be wet, flimsy, or otherwise likely to fall apart. We define this as a maximum weight of 15kg.

  • Is there a minimum volume you will collect?

There is no minimum volume we’ll collect, but we do have a minimum charge in place that covers you up to 10 bags or boxes of paperwork.

  • How will I know when you will arrive?

You will receive a live service tracking link the morning of your collection, confirming your route position and the driver’s current position. You will also receive a second email when our driver is one stop away from your premises. Our drivers can also contact you via phone when they are an hour away if you wish. Unfortunately, due to factors like traffic or road closures, we cannot currently provide specific collection windows in advance, but we hope our live service tracking is helpful. You are also welcome to phone our customer service team one working day before your collection is due for a rough estimated time of arrival.

For services where we dedicate a vehicle to your collection, for instance, full-day or multiple-day shredding services, we can facilitate start and finish times to suit your requirements. Our sales team will be able to discuss these options with you.

  • What happens to shredded paper?

After shredding, we recycle 100% of shredded paper at UK paper mills. The shredded fragments can be turned into many sustainable materials such as new paper, kitchen towels, toilet tissues, and feminine hygiene products.

  • How much does it cost to have paper shredded in the UK?

The cost of your service can depend on a variety of factors. For instance:

– Do you want the service on-site at your premises, or off-site at a secure destruction centre?

– Is it just a one-off requirement you have, or do you need regular services?

– How many bags or boxes do you have for shredding?

All of these questions will help our sales team to find the best and most cost-effective option for your needs.
