Important Update: Non-Essential Workers Must Reconfirm Shredding Requirements

Important Update for Commercial Customers in Non-Essential Fields.

Dear Customers,

Your safety and the safety of our staff is paramount. Fundamentally, we must all do everything we can to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

What does this mean for shredding collections?

We collect confidential waste from many healthcare providers, care homes, and other essential services. To keep our most vulnerable customers safe, as of today, we require commercial customers who are Non-Essential workers to contact us to reconfirm your shredding requirements. Unless we hear from you, we will postpone or cancel your service at no charge.

We have taken this measure to ensure we are not attending sites unnecessarily. By doing so, we are ensuring social contact is kept to a minimum.

For Essential Workers and residential customers, we will be operating a regular service and you do not need to get in touch.

How are we keeping customers safe?

To assure all of our customers, our shredding operatives have been given clear instructions on social distancing and handwashing practices. They have also received PPE to ensure their safety and the safety of our customers.

Why is Shred Station still operating?

Businesses in the waste disposal sector are an essential public service as per the UK Governments definitions. We will, therefore, continue to collect, shred, and recycle confidential materials where required.

We would also like to assure our customers that, while data protection and the destruction of data is still an essential legal obligation, the Information Commissioner’s Office will not be penalising organisations that need to adapt their processes during this time. The Information Commissioner’s Office website states:

“We understand that resources, whether they are finances or people, might be diverted away from usual compliance or information governance work. We won’t penalise organisations that we know need to prioritise other areas or adapt their usual approach during this extraordinary period”.

Therefore, as of 24/03/2020 until further notice, we can offer our Non-Essential customers this chance to postpone at no charge.

Any collections that you do still require, please reconfirm with us by emailing us at, or submitting a web enquiry form. We hope to resume a normal service once the current situation around COVID-19 has alleviated. We will update customers as the situation changes.

Thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time.

Please note, the majority of our office staff are now working from home. We strongly advise using email or enquiry forms to get in touch with us at this time, as there could be a significant delay in the time it takes us to answer calls.
