Running a 26.2-mile course is not for the faint of heart. When we asked why Simon, our founder and Managing Director, decided to sign up for the London Marathon’s ballot and why Barnardo’s, he said:
“I’ve been seeing a personal trainer for a while now, and admittedly, I didn’t begin that journey with a marathon in mind. However, the London Marathon has always been a goal I’ve wanted to achieve. It’s such a massive event with great fundraising potential, and that drove me to push harder and get myself to a place where I could actually complete it – hopefully!”
“I’m a father of two beautiful little girls. I chose to fundraise for Barnardo’s because I know not all children grow up with safe surroundings, love, support, and the opportunities that come with a stable home life. All children deserve the chance to feel safe. The work that Barnardo’s does in providing children and young people with that lifeline is a cause worth supporting. I want to raise as much money as possible for the charity. But, if running a marathon can help protect even one child, I know it’s worth doing”.
Barnardo’s does incredible work protecting and supporting children and young people who have suffered harm or abuse, are victims of trafficking, have special education needs, or simply just need to be placed in a loving home.
Simon raised over £3,000 for Barnardo's by taking on this test of endurance. Huge congratulations!
