What are the Clean & Green Awards?
2025 was the inaugural year of the East Anglia Clean & Green Awards, and we are certain that this event will become a staple in the region’s awards calendar. The awards honour sustainability champions across the East of England, including businesses, individuals, and communities. The categories Shred Station was a finalist for included:
Net Zero Award
For the Net Zero Award, judges looked for an organisation that had made significant progress towards net-zero carbon emissions. Key factors in their decisions for who to name as finalists included collaboration with partners, scalability, innovation, and measurable carbon reductions.
As a lifetime CarbonNeutral certified company, we take our journey towards net-zero very seriously. We are constantly finding new ways to reduce emissions and monitor our progress as detailed in our Carbon Reduction Plan.
Sustainability Strategy Award
In the Sustainability Strategy category, judges sought a project or strategy that excelled in reducing or offsetting carbon emissions. They were looking for innovation, measurable carbon reductions, replicability, and a collaborative approach from stakeholders.
Here at Shred Station, sustainability is at the heart of all core commercial decisions. Some of our sustainable innovations include replacing our forklifts with electric models, purchasing the region’s first electric articulated truck, incorporating HVO into our fuel mix, and installing solar power at our Norfolk head office.
Sustainable Workplace of the Year Award
For this category, judges were looking for a workplace that had fully integrated sustainable practices into its daily operations. They were looking for innovation, engaged employees, measurable environmental benefits, and the potential for scalability and adoption by other organisations.
Everything we do, we do with the environment in mind. We engage employees in green processes and initiatives in ways that help us to ensure we can continue to recycle 100% of the paper we shred. We have also seen high levels of employee engagement in non-operational activities like tree planting and community volunteering. Our sustainability goals are only achievable with the input of our team, and achieving a finalist position in this category is a testament to their efforts.
The entire Shred Station team is delighted to be finalists in these three categories. A huge thank you to the judges for selecting us to progress to the final stage. While we didn't win this time, we are delighted to have been selected as finalists and look forward to future Clean and Green awards.
