At the glittering awards ceremony, hosted by Kerry Godliman, dozens of outstanding East Anglian businesses gathered to celebrate the best of the best. The theme of 2024s event was sustainability, and it was great to learn about the progress being made across the region for a more sustainable future.
Shred Station was named a finalist in four categories, one of which was a surprise on the night. These were:
The Environmental & Sustainability Award.
The Customer Excellence Award.
Director of the Year Award.
Norfolk Business of the Year Award.
Environmental and Sustainability Award
The Environmental and Sustainability Award was to be awarded to a business that has demonstrated an innovative and sustainable approach to emission reduction.
The judges made several positive comments about our sustainability efforts. They remarked that they liked our “clear and focused strategy” towards reaching our ESG goals. They also said that we have “gone above and beyond what was already a very high standard for these awards”.
Customer Excellence Award
For the Customer Excellence Award category, the judges were looking for a business that focuses on customer needs. They were looking for customer-driven initiatives and a clear demonstration of outstanding customer service.
In this category, the judges praised Shred Station for “showing a strong alignment with customer needs, innovation in response to feedback, and a solid focus on sustainability”.
Director of the Year
Unbeknownst to our founder and Managing Director, Simon Franklin, our marketing team put him forward for the Director of the Year Award. In this category, the judges were looking for a director who has achieved business growth through expert strategy and resilience.
The judges said that Shred Station has “demonstrated remarkable success” under Simon’s leadership. They further commented that our “impressive carbon-neutral credentials reflect Simon’s dedication to minimising environmental impact, setting an industry-leading example”.
To achieve finalist positions in these three categories alone is a huge achievement, and we are very grateful to have spent time with the judges in the weeks before the finalist announcement. We kept our fingers crossed, especially for the Environmental & Sustainability Award. This age-old trick paid off, and we came home with two of the four trophies!
