Part of Grundon’s service offering also includes confidential waste management, and that’s where our relationship with the company starts.
The challenge
With confidential materials, time is of the essence when it comes to destruction. Not only are there legal requirements to destroy confidential materials when they are no longer required, but doing so also reduces the risk of them being misused, stolen, lost, or breached.
Grundon’s customer base is vast, so to ensure their customers’ confidential data is destroyed as quickly as possible, they subcontract their shredding work to us. By doing so, we are helping Grundon to provide a highly efficient and responsive service to a huge number of customers, all with unique confidential waste destruction requirements.
Our approach
Our national coverage, large fleet and specialism in shredding services mean that we can meet the needs of tens of thousands of our own customers each year. Our main challenge, or rather goal, for shredding on behalf of Grundon is that we want to make sure every one of their customers is taken care of and given the same high level of customer care that Grundon promises to deliver.
One of the ways we deliver on our promise is through our environmental commitments. Both Grundon and Shred Station are CarbonNeutral® certified, meaning we can meet their customers’ expectations of receiving an environmentally friendly service.
Another way we deliver on our promise is through professionalism and company-wide knowledge of confidential materials and how to best destroy them. When we service Grundon’s customers, we act as the face of their business. The company has a sterling reputation in the waste industry for their customer service and knowledge, and it’s vital we get things right for every collection. By doing so, we maintain the company’s reputation in its confidential waste destruction arm.
The customers we service on behalf of the total waste management company come in all shapes and sizes. We service hospitals, councils, regular businesses and much more. In total, Shred Station supplies shredding collections to over 300 of Grundon’s customers each year.
As mentioned, every customer has different requirements. While no two services are the same, the majority of these are regular customers that need shredding collections on a weekly, fortnightly or four-weekly schedule. In total, we service over 2,000 confidential waste bins across these sites. Most of these bins are for paper materials, but we also shred media, hard drives, uniforms, products and more. These materials are shredded both on-site and off-site, depending on the preferences of each customer.
The results
Shred Station has been a trusted subcontractor for Grundon for many years. Across both businesses, all employees have a great working relationship.
Our Commercial Director, Kristian Carter, comments on our relationship with Grundon:
Our partnership with Grundon is a really important one to our business and one that has grown over several years. As two environmentally conscious and growing businesses, our values and work ethos are aligned, which makes for a great working relationship.

Commercial Director, Shred Station.
Shred Station destroys 500+ tonnes of paperwork per year for Grundon’s customers. As we recycle 100% of the paper we shred, this is a huge volume of paperwork being recycled, saving thousands of trees from deforestation. Both being carbon-neutral businesses, it’s great to be able to work towards a shared goal of making the UK’s waste industry as green as possible.
Stephen Hill, Head of Sales at Grundon, comments:
We have been working with Shred Station for over a decade, and we are very happy with the service they provide. Both companies share the same core values, making our working relationship very easy. It also means our service offerings align well, and our customers receive a seamless, quality service for all waste streams.
